This is the second opportunity I've had to design the MassArt Viewbook. Last year was a
deck of cards. This year was a brochure. Both projects were equally fun and as a cherry
on top of the sundae bonus, both were recognized on FPO (For Print Only). It's a huge
honor to be included on a website which “celebrates the reality that print is not dead by
showcasing the most compelling printed projects.” FPO is a terrific site to gather visual
inspiration from a catalogue of worldwide, winning work.
One visual element incorporated in both designs was customized photography. Abstract
images of campus architecture and tools of the trade were photographed to convey the
essence of what feels like to be at MassArt. The colors, textures, natural light, different
mediums, discarded scraps, and work in progress helped set the tone of the photography.
After spending an entire day of touring the campus behind-the-scenes, I wished I was
back in art school.
